This study just shows exactly how important getting campaign contributions are to those that are running for office. However, before you can start gathering any type of political funding from the public it is a good idea to sit down and implement a campaign fund strategy. Total Cost. Try to sit down and figure out exactly how much the total campaign will cost. You will need to figure in travel expenses, advertising, hiring workers to work on your campaign and even any type of political papers or pamphlets that you might wish to pass out. While you won’t be able to get the exact costs down you will be able to figure out a rough estimate of how much money you will need to run your campaign.

Create Goals. It is important to create financial goals for a political campaign. Political campaign goals allow everyone involved with the campaign process to know exactly what they need to do and how much money they need to raise at a certain point in time. The goals should be based off of your estimate that you got when you figured out how much it will cost to run the campaign.

Create Guidelines for Workers. All workers need to be working on the same page, whether they are in the same state or same room. A political candidate will need to sit down and create a set guideline for the political campaign process. This will include how to approach those wishing to give donations and how to approach those that are just looking for information on candidates. Guidelines will also include the important parts of the candidate’s political platform so volunteers can give the public correct information when looking for donations. These guidelines will make sure that everyone that is working on the campaign is giving the same information out to potential donors and the public.

Campaign Blogs. Sometimes the public does not know exactly who they want to back during a political campaign. A campaign blog is a great way to show people what you stand for and the political campaigning process. Blogs, unlike websites, can be updated daily and allow the public to follow candidates through their process and what they represent. Blogs are also a great way to generate money for your political campaign. As people familiarize themselves with the political candidate they are more likely to contribute to the political campaign.

Email Lists. Almost 95% of the United States population relies upon email as a main form of communication. Many candidates will create a mailing list that allows the public to follow their process. Just like with blogs people will familiarize themselves with the candidate and could potentially help fund the campaign. Email lists are also a great way for candidates to ask for contributions from time to time as many people need to be reminded to donate to political campaigns.
